Hale

Dyson's colleague and another Fae undercover agent in the police force. He is a Siren. He is able to render humans and even other Fae unconscious or fascinate them with his whistle, so that they will docilely follow him. He's also from one of the 5 top families/aristocracy among the Light Fae.Hale Santiago is the son of Sturgis Santiago, head of Clan Zamora. Clan Zamora is one of the 3 noble Light Fae families. This means that Hale is of noble blood, and is possible heir to the head of clan. He is a siren, like his mother, something his father seems to think is not very dignified. Hale also has a sister named Val. Despite having a lot of social and political connections, Hale decides to make his own way in the world. Part of this is due to disagreements with his family.Hale believes that the Fae should treat humans as their equals, his family does not share this belief. Hale eventually becomes a detective, where he meets Dyson. They are partners and while solving crimes as normal cops, they also serve the Fae in ways their professions allow them too. Hale and Dyson become good friends, and serve as detectives for about 50 years before being called upon to investigate a mysterious Fae killing.Hale is more hesitant to help Bo intially, but soon they all become friends. Hale quickly becomes friends with Kenzi. This is because they both feel like sidekicks to their partners, Dyson and Bo respectfully. Hale and Dyson soon find themselves helping, and cleaning up after, Bo and Kenzi with their cases. Several times Hale's connections came in use to them.Hale and Kenzi soon develop a strong rapport, commonly needling each other. Hale once convinces Kenzi to pretend to be his girlfriend, but she is mistreated by his family. He is disappointed that his family continues to hold anti-human beliefs. While in the final battle against the Garuda, Kenzi is badly injured. Hale manages to save her life by using his siren powers.After Lachlan's death, Hale is chosen to be the acting Ash. He takes this job very seriously, and while respectful of Fae traditions, tries to institute some change. In order to do this he makes the painful decision to lock out his close friend Kenzi, after she interrupted an important meeting. This ends their friendship for a time. Hale is tough on Lauren as well, though certainly not as heavy handed as Lachlan. Hale is eventually chosen to become the official Ash, but his ascent is stopped by the Morrigan however. She turns the elders against him, after humans kidnap Dyson, and it is made to appear that Lauren had something to do with it. While everything is getting chaotic, he gives Kenzi the Twig of Zamora, to protect her, and suggests that he loves her. As his last act in power he gets Trick out of the country safely.A month goes by, and he still hasn't gotten up the courage to talk to Kenzi. He is also victim of the memory change that makes everyone forget Bo. He helps Dyson and Kenzi get their memories back, by fighting Vex. After delaying several times he and Kenzi officially start their relationship. Hale is nervous because he hasn't been in a serious relationship yet. He makes several embarrassing missteps, especially one involving Krampus on Yule day. Their relationship continues to progress however, and he invites her mother and cousin over so he can propose. To win them over he agreed to give her stepfather some business startup money, thinking he was her actual father. Initially everything goes well, until right when he proposes. It is then that Kenzi finds out that her mother lied about breaking up with her stepdad, because he called her cousin to ask about his money, so she kicks them out. Luckily, she isn't mad at Hale for any of this though. Hale's proposal isn't declined, but it isn't accepted either. Despite this, they decide to celebrate their almost engagement. While Kenzi is downstairs getting food, she is attacked by the thought to be dead Massimo. Hale arrives just in time to save her, and he uses his siren whistle to kill Massimo. Unfortunately, Kenzi gave the Twig of Zamora to Massimo as payment for her fake Fae powers, so he survives. Due to earlier damage, Hale is deafened by his own whistle and doesn't hear Massimo get up behind him. Kenzi tries to warn him, but it is too late. Massimo stabs Hale and kills him. Show less «
